Motivated by the fact that school resumes the coming week, I’ve had a full and VERY satisfying day of wing creations!!
Yup… wing creations!! Two of these wing creations (ladybug & grasshopper) had already been made prior as birthday dress-ups for when DS1 was 3 yrs old & DD was 1 yr old. When DS1′s kinder teacher saw them, she absolutely loved them. So I’ve just resized the wings to fit the bigger vests. Easy as pie!
The dragonfly however, was newly created in this last week & I had to rethink of how to make them. I’m totally happy with the result! They did come out better than I had expected. *hehe*
As for the butterfly wings at the end, they were created just for my daughter… who seems to be going through an “I love butterfly” stage (as I guess most little girls of about 3 yrs would at this age). I’m guessing that this love of butterflies have also been further inspired by Dorothy from the Wiggles… when she sings ”Butterflies flit from flower to flower… dancing their happy way…” as my DD absolutely LOVES that song! The wing pattern themselves, were inspired by those T-shirts that they sell at “Cotton-On for Kids”…
. I thought it was a great idea & so decided to create them for my daughter too! Finally I have got the ideal thing to create to get rid of all those lengths of netting I’d bought previously for some other idea I had that never eventuated to anything! Oh well!
Here are pictures of those creations!
Oh… & for all those babywearing fans… I actually threaded the shoulder straps of my 1/2 buckle tai through the arm holes of the vests & tied them on… & made for a really cute baby carrier with ladybug wings on!! *hehe* Just for the fun of it all! What… it was for baby… (I’ll see if I can take a picture or two of it & post it up later on!)
OK… here’s the picture of my baby carrier with ladybug wings…
Sorry, forgot to lift the hood…
(a) Dragonfly wings
Made with:
Navy polar fleece vests (from Target), Navy blue netting, quilting wadding, thin cotton black cloth, blue remnant fabric (bought with those shiny blue dots already fixed onto the fabric)
(b) Grasshopper wings
Made with:
Green polar fleece vests (from Target), thin cotton green cloth & olive green craft fur fabric
(c) Ladybug wings
Made with:
Black polar fleece vests (from Target), thin cotton black cloth & red with black polka dots craft fur fabric
(d) Butterfly or Angelic wings
Made with:
Navy blue netting
Let me know what you think!
Thanks.
Karen

Yesterday saw me reviving my LOMO from the deepest confines of the clothes cupboard! I’d forgotten how nice, bright & vibrantly coloured the photos can be. I have a Supersampler Lomo camera which for some funny reason seems to be having a case of sunburn or something… its yellow paint seems to be peeling off which is rather weird since its just been sitting in the cupboard for the last few years!
Anyway, here are some photos I’d taken with it… I might post more later…

What a day we’re going to be having…
DH had to rush off to work real early…
DS1 came in claiming he had a fever & now a tummy ache…
DD came in to the room claiming she had a tummy ache… but she’s since pooed so I think things will look up for her now!
DS2 still has a snuffly nose…. its 10:20am now & DS2 has since gone back down for late morning nap… so that’s great for us! Yea!!
MIL is not around… so that’s 1 less hand to help out… My aunt is coming over for the day… so that’ll be a great help!
The laundry is piling like crazy & I sure don’t feel like reducing its pile… but reduce I eventually will have too… I’ve just hung out 1 load… so that’s 1 load less to worry about… Yup… things are looking up now! *haha*
Gotta go get breakfast happening! All done & finished… now I’ve got to think of what to do for lunch!
*sigh* Still got a crack load of sewing I’ve got to do… those costumes for DS1′s kinder (before kinder resumes in another week’s time), the cross-stitch ring bearer’s pillow that has to be finished in 4 mths time for my brother’s wedding… all those MTs that need to move from the production line to the for-sale tab! *sigh* Yes, I think I’ve got my plate full… Might try cutting out the fabric for those costumes now that DS2 is asleep!
I will show some pictures for it though… once they eventually get done!
OK… I think I will go administer some gripe water for DS1 who seems to be having a real tummy agony… That gripe water worked like a charm… plus all the breakfast he’s since eaten… DS1 seems on top of the world again. *phew*
Bye & thanks for reading..

I acquired a really nice yummy camera from eBay a few months ago… just in time to bring with me for holidays… & here’s the 1st lot of pictures that I took with it… really sweet…
OK… OK… what yummy camera might that be, I hear you ask… well, I couldn’t afford the Nikon D80 brand new… so I ended up getting the model before, which was the Nikon D70… I wanted one that I could actually use my old lenses on… as I had an analogue SLR camera before too… so I could not go for anything less than the D70… hence got the D70…
I bought the camera on a Saturday from eBay & paid & collected it on Sunday after church… I promptly went out on photography escapade around my neighbourhood… & this is what I came back with…
Have a look at these pictures & let me know what you think! Mind you there are 10 of them…
(a) capturing the essence of autumn…
(b) The local neighbourhood…
(c) Grassy swamps…
(d) Let’s see how a tree looks from a child’s perspective…
(e) Cyclists at dusk…
(f) Fenceline…
(g) City views…
(h) One of my favourite nature photo…
(i) The lone tree…
(j) A nice close-up photo…
Hope you enjoyed all those pictures then… If you survived all the way to this point…
Oh & btw, just to let you know, I’m only a novice photographer…

This last photo features a reversible and removable cover using brocade fabric! Great for those more formal & dressier occasions! Action picture is of blue floral brocade & Non-action picture features the other side of the reversible cover, ie. the turquoise coloured brocade with delightful dragonflies…

Have been wondering what great thing to begin my blog about…
Finally come up with something…
I’ve finally completed my very first chunei…
Yippee…
Thanks heaps to the mummy on TBW who posted her chunei instructions… (http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=167513&highlight=DIY+Chunei) & also to another friend who loaned me his chunei too… it was very helpful… coupled with my own DIY KarriMeBub Mei Tai… Here’s what I came up with… My sis decided to try it on first… (I did have a go at it at home & while carrying bubs from the car to church… before she hijacked it…) so what better time than that to actually play with my other totally neat “new” 2nd hand Nikon D70 (my other hobby) & take her photo!
Here’s my sis carrying her 1.5 yr old… Looking pretty good!
Its actually a really neat carrier… very comfy except the only thing that’s a real pain at the moment is the fact that my son is in this leg pushing & straightening mode… (that’s why I’m having a hard time “wrapping” him too!)… where he straightens his leg at the knee which inadvertently ends up with his leg straight down & almost falling out of the carrier from the bottom down…
So although all done… I might have to wait a little before I can actually use it proper… wait till he hopefully grows out of that stage & sits docilely like my sister’s son… Wonder if that’ll ever happen though… Hmmm….
Some thoughts… I used the measurements that TBW momma suggested, then I added the length of my KarriMeBub MT, further adding a zippered pocket & also making the adjustable waist strap & shoulder strap from webbing & plastic buckles instead! I sewed together & lined it then top stitched the carrier but didn’t do a bias tape edge as I’m not sure how too… (I could probably work it out, but didn’t bother!). So that was pretty much how I ended up with my chunei!
Yippee… Should keep us nice, warm & toasty this winter!
